SE Heller Artist Statement
My work explores the intersection of sustainability, narrative, and participation. Drawing on a background that spans architecture, public art, and arts education, I transform reclaimed materials into poetic, interactive experiences. Each project is guided by a belief that materials carry memory — and that creative practice can be a way to both reflect and connect.
As a dyslexic artist and long-time educator, I embrace nonlinear thinking and process-based making. I believe in the power of art to foster agency, curiosity, and joy — especially when it invites others in. Whether through murals, installations, or collaborative workshops, I aim to create work that sparks dialogue, activates space, and makes room for wonder.
